Tip of the Month—Protecting HTTP Traffic from Today's Blended Threats
Today's blended threats—like Code Red, Nimda, Klez, and Bugbear—combine different forms of attack on corporate systems. In addition to spreading via email, they also make use of network vulnerabilities, which allow them to spread via the HTTP protocol. It is essential in today's environment to have HTTP protection in place. One of the most efficient ways of doing this is by installing an integrated hardware and software solution, such as a McAfee WebShield® appliance. This appliance sits behind your firewall, intercepting traffic as it enters and leaves your organization. With a solution like this in place, viruses and malicious code will get identified, and stopped, before they get the chance to infiltrate your network and start costing millions of dollars in clean up costs. Additionally, since McAfee WebShield appliances scan SMTP, POP3, HTTP, and FTP traffic, you get multiple protocols protection, all in the one device. Read more about the WebShield appliance product range, here.
