להפטר מהזבל

לכותרת זו משמעויות רבות בשבוע שעבר, בה שביתת עובדי התברואה העמידה את הערים בישראל במצב לא נעים, לא בריא, לא תקין. בואו לא נתייחס כאן למספר פרשיות בגידה ומעילה שהתפרסמו בעיתונות באותה תקופה, למרות שגם להן מתאימה הכותרת.

בנס ציונה, בה התקיימה בשבועיים האחרונות סדרת מפגשים של מסדר אבירי הגיבוי, איסוף האשפה נעשה על ידי חברה קבלנית הקשורה בחוזה לעירייה. בתקופת השביתה הנוכחית העיר הייתה נקייה וברחובותיה זרמה תנועת כלי הרכב והולכי הרגל ללא כל הפרעה. ראש העיר אינו תלוי בדרישות עובדי התברואה, והיות ומדובר בראש עיר המכהן בתפקיד כבר מספר קדנציות, סביר להניח כי להחלטתו הנבונה הגיע לאחר משברי-זבל דומים שהתרחשו בעבר.

נושא כאוב אליו הגיעו בדיוניהם אבירי הגיבוי בכל אחד מן המפגשים, היה "פינוי הזבל" ממערכות המחשב הארגוניות תחת אחריותם. האם למנהל המערכות סמכות מספקת לשלול שירותי גיבוי למידע מיותר שנאסף ? או נהפוך הוא: האם זו חלק מתפקידו לגבות בנאמנות כל שארית מידע המציבים המשתמשים - כולל מידע נטול כל ערך לארגון?

David protects against Bugbear

Ahaus, 7th October 2002 -- The W32.Bugbear Virus, also known as I-Worm.Tanatos, is already activated by a note in the preview window. For users of the Messaging Server David, having activated their "Virus Protection for DvISE", there is no danger.

"With "Virus Protection for DvISE" we offer our customers optimal protection against data loss or damage by virus attacks", says Kirsten Altevogt, Product Marketing Tobit Software. "The company network is even protected against the current virus called Bugbear, regarding which only on just one single day MessageLabs counted up to 11,000 infected mails and which is listed in the virus charts directly behind the well-known Klez.h virus."

The Bugbear Virus infects computers using an unpatched version of the Internet Explorer 5.5. A gap in it enables Bugbear to activate by just indicating a mail in the preview window. Then the virus sends mass mails to the recipients from the Windows address book. The worm sends itself via eMails and spreads in the network.

"Virus Protection for DvISE" offers protection against Bugbear and other dangerous computer viruses. Already the Klez.h virus was detected by David users and was no danger. By means of a software module, integrated in David 6.6 as standard, all incoming and outgoing messages are controlled before they enter the system. "Virus Protection for DvISE" cares for optimal protection against virus attacks by regular and full-automatic updating the virus signatures. Bugbear is also detected as virus and an infected mail is quarantined. Thus the spreading of the virus is restricted and the company network is protected.
